Lantern Vietnamese Kitchen Information

Tucked into a busy shopping area along Base Line Road in Rancho Cucamonga, Lantern Vietnamese Kitchen offers a warm, modern take on classic Vietnamese comfort food that feels both approachable and thoughtfully prepared. Located at 12270 Base Line Rd Ste 159, this casual dining spot has quickly become a favorite among locals looking for flavorful dishes, generous portions, and a welcoming atmosphere that suits everything from a relaxed lunch to a laid-back dinner with friends.

Walking into the restaurant, the first thing that stands out is the clean, contemporary interior. The décor leans modern without losing the cozy charm you’d expect from a neighborhood Vietnamese kitchen. Soft lighting, simple wood accents, and an open dining layout make the space feel relaxed and inviting. Even during busy hours, the dining room tends to maintain a comfortable energy rather than feeling rushed or overcrowded.

The menu is where Lantern Vietnamese Kitchen really shines. Traditional Vietnamese staples sit alongside slightly modernized favorites, giving diners plenty of options whether they’re longtime fans of the cuisine or trying it for the first time. The pho is a clear highlight, served with aromatic broth that tastes like it’s been simmered for hours. The balance of spices, herbs, and beef stock creates a rich yet clean flavor, and the generous serving of fresh basil, lime, and bean sprouts lets guests customize every bowl. The vermicelli noodle bowls are another standout, especially the grilled pork version, where the caramelized edges of the meat pair beautifully with crisp vegetables and light fish sauce dressing.

Spring rolls and egg rolls are popular starters here, and it’s easy to see why. The fresh spring rolls come tightly wrapped with shrimp, herbs, and rice noodles, served with a creamy peanut dipping sauce that adds just the right amount of sweetness and depth. Meanwhile, the crispy egg rolls deliver a satisfying crunch with a savory filling that feels homemade rather than overly processed.

Service tends to match the relaxed tone of the restaurant. Staff members are generally attentive and happy to offer recommendations for newcomers unfamiliar with Vietnamese dishes. During one visit, a server suggested pairing a vermicelli bowl with Vietnamese iced coffee, and the strong, sweet coffee turned out to be the perfect finish to the meal.

Online reviews across platforms like Google and Yelp often highlight the consistency of the food and the friendliness of the staff. Many customers mention returning regularly for the pho and rice plates, noting that the portions feel generous for the price. While peak hours can occasionally mean a short wait for tables, the kitchen moves efficiently, and dishes typically arrive fresh and hot.

Being situated in Rancho Cucamonga also adds to the restaurant’s appeal. The location is convenient for shoppers and residents in the surrounding neighborhoods, making it an easy stop for both quick meals and casual dining outings. The overall experience feels grounded in authentic flavors while remaining accessible to a wide range of diners, which likely explains why Lantern Vietnamese Kitchen has built such a loyal local following.

What People's Say About Place

Friendly staff Ordered the spicy basil chicken and the chicken pho with egg rolls Everything was delicious Very tasty

Been there many times but 1st time trying their pho. Got the vegan pho with beef broth. Broth and chilli oil are really good. Really enjoyed the pho but one thing, portion is too small for about $15 after tax. Other places are 2x portion for same price. Almost 5 stars.

I love pho soup base, always so refreshing and delicious!

Food was clean and tasty. Presentation of food was good and the restaurant was well maintained and clean. Service was friendly and overall experience was good. Price is a bit on the higher side but it is in Haven City Market which tends to hike up the price a but. Porions were adequate. 8/10.
